National cyber security strategy to be drafted in 2012
On Friday 16 March, the President of the Republic and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the preparatory work for a national cyber security strategy.
Cyber threats have become a key security issue at both international and national levels. During 2012, Finland will prepare a national cyber security strategy with an aim to improve national preparedness related to comprehensive cyber security and to contribute to the prerequisites for disruption-free functioning of the society.
The Committee also discussed preparations for the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit to be held on 26-27 March 2012. The President of the Republic will participate in the Summit. Representatives of 52 countries and four international organisations will attend the high-level meeting. The Summit will discuss ways to prevent illegal seizure of nuclear materials and to secure vulnerable nuclear materials from the threat of nuclear crime and nuclear terrorism.
The meeting also discussed key issues relating to Finlands Security Council campaign.
