Share your views at Future 2030 participation forum

A new online participation tool has been opened to encourage discussion on the future of Finland. The aim is to consider which issues need to be resolved to ensure that the Finland of 2030 remains a good place to live and work in. Every citizen is invited to participate. The participation forum is part of the preparatory work for the Finnish Government foresight report which is to be submitted to Parliament in autumn 2013. The participation tool has been built up in cooperation with the parties to the foresight report: Academy of Finland; Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund; and Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.

– We welcome open-minded views and new perspectives for Finland in 2030 and ideas how to get there, General Secretary for the foresight report process Pekka Lindroos of the Prime Minister's Office said. Key aspects in foresight work include sustainable economy, people's well-being and the environment, with a view to their global contexts, too.

The Government foresight report will be prepared in a participatory, transparent manner with an open-minded view to the future. Citizens and various interest groups will be consulted. The drafting of the report will be based on information provided by researchers and other specialists. It will also draw on our values and assumptions about the future. An international research project looking into the Finnish approach for sustainable growth will be carried out in parallel with the report.

The Future 2030 online participation tool is provided by Fountain Park and is available (in Finnish) at www.fountainpark.fi/tulevaisuusaivoriihi. The forum will be open for two weeks.
