Finland celebrates 100 years of independence on 6 December. The centenary has been celebrated throughout the year on every continent, in more than 100 countries. To celebrate Finland’s 100th birthday, the Finland 100 secretary, part of the Prime Minister’s Office, is sending out a birthday text message to every Finnish mobile phone number. The birthday messages are sent in cooperation with the Finnish teleoperators.

Birthday text message from the Finland 100 secretary: Today Finland celebrates 100 years of independence - Happy Birthday everybody!

“Finland has received birthday messages and congratulations in many forms but we wanted to congratulate as many Finns and friends of Finland as possible in person,” says Pekka Timonen, General Secretary of the Centenary of Finland’s Independence, at the Prime Minister’s Office. “There’s nothing more Finnish than sending birthday greetings through a text message.”

The birthday message will be sent to Finnish mobile phone numbers by Finnish teleoperators DNA Oyj, Elisa Oyj, Telia Finland Oyj and Ålands Telefonandelslag
