Press release

The Defence Forces received a mandate from Defence Minister Jussi Niinistö to order red dot sights and transportation bags for modernised 7.62RK62 assault rifles. Aimpoint MicroT-2 red dot sights and their transportation bags will be ordered from the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) since the NSPA provides logistics and procurement for NATO member countries and partner countries.

The Defence Forces take part in the NSPA partner programme through which it will be possible to improve security of supply, cost efficiency, international compatibility, and to carry out procurement plans with the help of the NSPA. The procurement will increase the speed and precision of the combatant's use of weapon as well as the assault rifle's usability in poor lighting conditions. It is part of the national defence development programme by the Defence Forces called Taistelija (Combatant).

The overall value of the procurement without value added tax is about EUR 5.5 million. The red dot sights will be provided by the end of 2018.
