Press release

On 22 March 2017, Valmet Automotive announced that it was launching a recruitment campaign to attract about 1,060 new employees to its factory in Uusikaupunki. The factory currently employs approximately 2,300 people. An additional 300 will begin work there soon, and applications are now being taken for a further total of more than 1,000 people.

The company estimates that the factory’s workforce will be around 3,700 in the latter part of this year.

“The success of the Valmet Automotive car plant has exceeded even our greatest expectations. It is one of the most convincing demonstrations that a manufacturing industry based on a high level of know-how can still thrive in Finland,” says Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä.

“The automotive industry will be an even more significant employer in Uusikaupunki and the surrounding areas than it is at present. Also the indirect impact of the plant's success on economic activity and employment in the region will be considerable,” emphasises Lintilä.

“It’s a pleasure to congratulate the company for its determined and productive development work, which is evident in this excellent outcome. It also generates a substantial positive impact beyond the Satakunta region, across the country.”
