Press release 176/2016
26 September 2016

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Kai Mykkänen will lead a Team Finland visit to Egypt on 26–29 September 2016. He will be accompanied by a delegation of over 20 representatives of cleantech, telecommunications and education sector companies.

High-level meetings organised during the visit will help promote Finnish companies' business contacts and projects in Egypt. Minister Mykkänen and his delegation members will meet both Egyptian ministers and representatives of other state institutions. In Cairo, Mykkänen will open a joint Finnish-Egyptian business seminar.

Egypt is the third biggest economy in North Africa and the Middle East and its consumer markets are among the largest in the area. As a result of the improved political stability, foreign trade and investments have stepped up in recent years. In 2015, Egypt's economic growth rose to four per cent. International companies have competed for access to the newly-opening Egyptian markets, especially to the mega-level infrastructure projects launched by Egypt. Finland is well placed and has good opportunities to increase and diversify trade with Egypt. Minister Mykkänen's visit provides an excellent opportunity for presenting leading-edge Finnish expertise in several sectors to the Egyptian consumer market of 90 million people.

The visit is organised together with Finpro, which is part of Team Finland.

The following companies will be represented in the Minister's delegation:

CS Control Software Oy
