Earlier this week, Minister of Economic Affairs Olli Rehn discussed industrial and economic policy issues with Emmanuel Macron, the French Minister of the Economy, Industry and the Digital Sector.

The Ministers also discussed issues relating to the construction of the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant unit by Teollisuuden Voima Oyj.

Rehn emphasised that issues relating to the Olkiluoto 3 project, its timetable and possible economic responsibilities, are to be dealt by the companies involved in the project. – The Finnish Government has no need or possibility to issue guidelines to private companies, Rehn said.

- For Finland’s security of energy supply, it is important that Olkiluoto 3 be finalised in 2018. Therefore it is good to ensure that the companies can concentrate their efforts on bringing the project into a conclusion, Rehn said.
