Minister for Foreign Affairs Soini to NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Brussels

The Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs will be organised at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels on 19–20 May 2016. Finland has been invited to participate in two sessions of the meeting. One of the sessions focuses on Afghanistan and the Resolute Support Mission and the other on topical issues with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini. Finland's representative in the meetings will be Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini.

In the session related to Afghanistan and the Resolute Support Mission, the ministers will also discuss the security situation in Afghanistan in general as well as financial support to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces after 2017. In addition to Afghanistan and the more than 40 countries participating in the Resolute Support Mission, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the UN, as well as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs have been invited to attend.

Finland and Sweden, which participate in the Enhanced Opportunities Partners (EOP) framework, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs will also discuss with NATO the cooperation between NATO and the EU and other topical issues.
