Estonia's newly elected Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur will make an official visit to Finland on Wednesday 10 August 2022. The visit will be hosted by Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen.
Topics on the agenda for the defence ministers' discussion include the security situation in Europe, Finland's NATO membership process and bilateral defence cooperation between Finland and Estonia. During his visit, Minister Pevkur will also become acquainted with the activities of the Finnish Defence Forces.
Pevkur took up his post as Minister of Defence on 18 July 2022. He served as Estonia's Minister of the Interior in 2014-2016, as Minister of Justice in 2012-2014 and as Minister of Social Affairs in 2009-2012. He represents the Estonian Reform Party.
