Minister Sanna Marin and Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure of Estonia Taavi Aas met in Helsinki

Minister of Transport and Communications of Finland Sanna Marin and Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure of Estonia Taavi Aas met in Helsinki on 5 July 2019. Both Ministers assumed their office this year and now met for the first time.

The topics of the meeting were future infrastructure projects: Rail Baltica and the Helsinki-Tallinn tunnel. These projects would together provide a fast transport link from northern Europe to other parts of the continent.

The Ministers also discussed topical EU matters, particularly the mobility package. It regulates combined transport as well as the market access and social aspects in goods and passenger transport.

Finland assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July 2019.
