Special Advisers to Prime Minister Antti Rinne appointed

Prime Minister Antti Rinne has appointed Matti Hirvola, Pilvi-Elina Kupias, Tuulia Pitkänen, Dimitri Qvintus, Joonas Rahkola and Lauri Voionmaa to serve as his Special Advisers. In addition, the Prime Minister has appointed Jari Luoto as his Under-Secretary of State for EU Affairs. Last week Raimo Luoma was appointend as State Secretary to the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Matti Hirvola

Matti Hirvola is the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in Political Affairs, and he also serves as the Secretary of the Social Democratic Party’s Government group. His previous positions include Special Adviser at the Ministry of Finance and Secretary of the Government group, Head of Communications of the Social Democratic Party, and Secretary General of the Industrial Employees TP. Hirvola holds a Master of Arts and Master of Social Sciences degree.

Pilvi-Elina Kupias

Pilvi-Elina Kupias is the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in EU Affairs. Earlier she has worked as an EU lobbyist specialised in energy policy in Finland and Brussels and as EU Specialist of the Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary group. She holds a Master of Arts in Political Science and Administration degree from the University of Maastricht.

Tuulia Pitkänen

Tuulia Pitkänen is the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in Parliamentary Affairs. She has worked as Secretary General of Young European Socialists in Brussels, Political Assistant in the Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary group, Assistant to a Member of Parliament, and in various positions in the student movement. Pitkänen is a student of social sciences at the University of Helsinki.

Dimitri Qvintus

Dimitri Qvintus is the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in Media Relations and Communications. Earlier Qvintus has worked as the Special Adviser to the Speaker of Parliament, Communications Officer and Political Adviser of the Social Democratic Party leader, Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance, and Communications Officer of the Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary group. He has also worked as voice actor. He holds a degree as a Journalist.

Joonas Rahkola

Joonas Rahkola is the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in Economic Affairs. Earlier Rahkola has worked as Economist and Head of the Economic Policy Unit at the Office of the Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary group, Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance, and Economist at the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions SAK. Rahkola holds a Master of Social Sciences degree.

Lauri Voionmaa

Lauri Voionmaa is the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in International Affairs. Earlier Voionmaa has worked at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Finland’s missions abroad specialising e.g. in NATO, EU and African affairs, and at the Ministry of Justice. His latest position was Desk Officer dealing with Finland’s political relations with the United States. Voionmaa has studied in France, Great Britain and Belgium, and holds a degree as a lawyer specialised in EU law (LL M) from the College of Europe in Bruges.

Jari Luoto

Jari Luoto appointed as Under-Secretary of State for EU Affairs

Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Jari Luoto will serve the Prime Minister in EU Affairs. His previous positions include the Head and Deputy Head of the Government Secretariat for EU Affairs, Prime Minister’s Special Adviser in EU Affairs, Ambassador for Baltic Sea Issues, Special Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Brazil and Switzerland. Most recently he has held a lead position as the policy coordinator of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT). Jari Luoto holds a Master of Social Sciences degree.
