Prime Minister Marin held a discussion with the President of the European Council and the Prime Minister of Spain

Prime Minister Sanna Marin spoke with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain on the telephone concerning the videoconference of the members of the European Council, which will be held tomorrow.

Prime Minister Marin informed President Michel about Finland’s main views on the European Commission’s revised multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027 and the proposal for a new EU recovery instrument, which will be discussed at the videoconference.

Prime Minister Marin discussed the coronavirus situation in Europe with Prime Minister Sánchez. Sánchez was scheduled to visit Finland during the spring, but the visit had to be postponed due to the coronavirus situation. The Prime Ministers highlighted the importance of coordinated measures in lifting the coronavirus restrictions in the EU. Marin and Sánchez also discussed the Commission’s proposal and where their views on the issue concur and differ.
