USA presented a proposal regarding Israel and Palestine on January 28, 2020. Together with other EU Member States, Finland will carefully study the proposal.
Finland continues to support a two-state solution negotiated between Israel and Palestine, taking into account needs and aspirations of both, as well as principles of international law and agreed international parameters. It is important that the Middle East peace process stays on the international agenda. If the US proposal brings new impetus to the process, it is welcomed.
At this point, any unilateral action contrary to international law would be counterproductive and thus needs to be avoided.
