Sweden's new Minister for Defence to visit Finland

Sweden's new Minister for Defence Pål Jonson will make a working visit to Finland on Monday 24 October 2022. This is Minister Jonson's first visit abroad as Minister for Defence.

The visit will be hosted by Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen.

The ministers are to discuss bilateral defence cooperation, materiel cooperation, trilateral cooperation with Norway and the United States, the NATO integration of their countries and Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine.

Minister for Defence Pål Jonson has served as a Member of Parliament since 2016. He has been responsible for defence matters within the Moderate Party since 2019 and he has chaired the Committee on Defence since 2020. Minister Jonson earned the degree of Doctor of Military Science at King's College, London, in 2005.

The ministers will be available to talk to the media at the Ministry of Defence (Eteläinen Makasiinikatu 8) at 13.45. Media representatives are requested to arrive no later than 13.35. Registrations by 10 o'clock on Monday 24 October at the latest on riina.kauppila(at)gov.fi or +358 295 140 127.
