Raimo Luoma appointed as State Secretary to Prime Minister

On Friday 7 June, the Government appointed Master of Laws Raimo Luoma as State Secretary to the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office. The State Secretary is appointed for the duration of the Prime Minister’s term of office.

At present Raimo Luoma is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Emergency Supply Agency. Earlier he has also served as State Secretary to the Minister of Finance and, for a long time, as public official and Director-General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Luoma has also practised as a lawyer.

Raimo Luoma will resign from his posts as CEO at the National Emergency Supply Agency and as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Tradeka Group Ltd.

A State Secretary has been appointed to the Prime Minister’s Office since 1990. The term is linked to that of the Prime Minister. The duties of the State Secretary are, as the Prime Minister’s closest aide, to promote and monitor the implementation of the Government Programme, direct preparation of matters in the Government, and ensure cooperation with the ministries. The State Secretary to the Prime Minister heads the Prime Minister’s Office, assisted by the Permanent State Under-Secretary, and chairs the meetings of the ministries’ Permanent Secretaries.
