Minister Vehviläinen’s new Special Adviser to be Matias Hilden

Minister of Local Government and Public Reforms Anu Vehviläinen has named Matias Hilden her new Special Adviser. Hilden will take up his appointment on 4 September 2017.

Hilden, aged 30 and with a Master’s degree in administrative sciences, will transfer to the Ministry of Finance from his post as chief executive at the Municipality of Puumala, taking a leave of absence from the chief executive’s post. His previous experience includes a post at the Municipality of Pielavesi and a position as a Member of Parliament’s personal assistant.

Hilden will assist Minister Vehviläinen primarily in local government policy and in matters concerning regional government reform. Hilden’s predecessor, Sami Miettinen, has returned to the post of chief executive at the Municipality of Vihti after his two-year leave of absence.

Tuomas Vanhanen continues as Minister Vehviläinen’s other Special Adviser. Vanhanen assists the Minister in matters such as the reform of methods and practices, including key projects dealing with the digitalisation of public services, promoting a culture of experimentation, and improving management and implementation.
