Prime Minister Sipilä had a phone conversation with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Juha Sipilä today spoke on the phone with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The Prime Ministers discussed both bilateral and international issues.

The Prime Ministers noted the excellent relations between the two countries. Contacts have increased especially after the Prime Ministers met in Mumbai last year. New openings have been made in the trade and economic relations, notably in the energy sector.

Prime Minister Sipilä congratulated Prime Minister Modi on the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax. The groundbreaking reform has positive implications also for Finnish companies operating in India.

The Prime Ministers also discussed the relations between the European Union and India as well as international issues, including the G20 summit and the necessity to combat climate change.
