Finland took over the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers on 1 January 2016. The Presidency will last the calendar year 2016 and culminate in the Nordic Council's week of sessions at the turn of October and November.
The main themes of the Finnish Presidency are water, nature and people. Matters falling under the administrative branch of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in the Nordic Council of Ministers include health, equality, labour protection and food questions.
The Presidency has its own website at www.norden2016.fi. Visitors to the website can find information about, for example, the Presidency programme, and projects and events organised during the year.
