Finland is well known for its unique education system and excellent Pisa results. During the Olympic Games, both Brazilians and other Olympic guests have the opportunity to get familiar with our success story, as the Finnish education will be presented in Rio de Janeiro on 17–19 August 2016. Many topics will be dealt with, like basic education, vocational training, higher education, coach education and teacher education, and various digital games and learning applications will be presented.

Finnish education will be presented at Finland House located in the centre of Rio. Finland House is a co-operation project carried out for the first time by the Finnish Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Finpro and the Finnish Embassy in Brazil. We present Finnish education know-how and products of Finnish cleantech companies to Olympic guests and to representatives of business and media.

At Finland House you can follow various presentations on Finnish education. You can also play learning games, attend workshops, watch videos on Finnish education or discuss with representatives of educational organisations.

Finland House presents in practice how children are studying at Finnish schools. A Finnish Pop Up School will be operating at the House from 17 to 19 August. This is a Finnish concept developed to organise temporary schools in connection with large sports events. Finnish teachers will be teaching at the school that is open to all kids, but you need to register beforehand. The concept has been piloted during the European Championship in basketball at Montpellier, France.

The Finnish Minister of Education and Culture Sanni Grahn-Laasonen will visit Finland House on Friday, 19 August. At 10 am local time, she will speak about the success story of Finnish education and meet athletes.

You can see the programme for the days on Facebook:
