Working group of State Secretaries to propose business subsidy cuts

In accordance with the Government Programme, a working group will be appointed to prepare a proposal for business subsidy cuts of EUR 100 million at the 2023 level by the autumn’s budget session.

On 9 of August 2019, Minister of Economic Affairs Katri Kulmuni appointed a working group consisting of State Secretaries to make preparations and a proposal for the cuts. The working group was asked to provide its proposals in time for the budget session on 17–18 September 2019. In the budget session, a decision will also be made regarding the need to continue compensation on emissions trading.

The working group is chaired by State Secretary Jari Partanen from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and vice-chaired by State Secretary Valtteri Aaltonen from the Ministry of Finance. Members of group are State Secretary Terhi Lehtonen from the Ministry of the Environment, State Secretary Minna Kelhä from the Ministry of Education and Culture and State Secretary Malin Brännkärr from the Ministry of Justice.

Director Olli Koski and Senior Ministerial Adviser Petteri Kuuva from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, and Senior Government Adviser Merja Sandell and Ministerial Adviser Reetta Varjonen-Ollus from the Ministry of Finance serve as secretaries of the working group.
