Press release

Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka has invited public transport operators to a forum on 8 June 2020 to agree on ways to ensure the provision of smooth and, in terms of health, safe public transport services.

Restrictions and recommendations imposed due to the corona epidemic are lifted and public transport services are starting to recover. Through a shared situational picture and operating methods it is possible to increase people's trust in the safety of public transport services now and in future.

A broad range of business representatives in the transport sector as well as public transport authorities of central and local government have been invited to the event.

The opening words at the forum by Minister Harakka will be followed by presentations on the practices used during the emergency conditions in different transport modes (bus and coach transport, rail, water and air transport).A representative from the Institute for Health and Welfare will speak about measures and practices in public transport during the coronavirus epidemic in the light of the Institute's instructions for preventing the spread of the coronavirus disease.
