Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka will visit Vienna, Austria, and hold a speech at the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation) Security Days on 13 November.

The Security Days, led by OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, mark the 15th anniversary of the UN Security Council resolution 1325 (Women, Peace and Security). Women's rights and equality issues are a central priority for Finland.

According to Minister Toivakka, women must become more actively involved in mediation work. "Women can play an important role in that a peace agreement is reached and in that it remains in force, which in turn leads to more permanent results," she says.

During the visit, Minister Toivakka will meet OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, Ambassador Melanne Verveer, Executive Director of the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, Michael Link, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and Ertugrul Apakan, Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine.
