Defence Forces concluded framework agreement on procurement of optical cable material

The Ministry of Defence has authorised the Defence Forces Logistics Command to conclude a framework agreement with Nestor Cables Oy on the procurement of optical cable material.

The procurement package includes optical cable units, measuring fibres, field pair cables and delivery systems for procurement under a framework agreement in 2020-2023. The optical cable material will be used for the training and exercising of troops and equipping various projects in the Defence Forces. Optical cable is used for constructing mobile access networks in the terrain.

The overall value of the contract without value added tax is about EUR 15.9 million.

Established in 2007, Nestor Cables Oy is a company based in Oulu, Northern Finland that develops, manufactures and sells optical and copper telecommunication and industrial cables as well as fibre optic cable accessories. The company employs about 80 people and supplies cables around the world.
