Finnish Minister of Employment to visit EU Committee on Employment and Social Affairs

Minister of Employment Timo Harakka will present the priorities of Finland's Presidency to the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) of the European Parliament in Brussels on 24 July 2019, together with Finnish Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pekonen.

Minister Harakka will visit the Committee in his capacity as chairman of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO). Ministers representing the Presidency of the Council of the EU responsible for the policy sectors in question will present the presidency priorities to the relevant committees of the European Parliament and have an exchange of views with Members of the European Parliament.

Following his meeting with the EMPL committee, Minister Harakka will meet with the key representatives of that committee, Finnish MEPs and the Vice-President of the European Commission Jyrki Katainen.

In September, Minister Harakka will present the main themes of the Finnish Presidency before the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO).

The committee meetings will be streamed live.
