9.9.2021 | Afganistanin pelastus-ja evakuointioperaatio oli monella tapaa ainutkertainen ja historiallinen. Suomi evakuoi kolmen viikon aikana yli 400 henkilöä turvaan. Tämän teki mahdolliseksi paitsi yhteistyö niin kotimaan kuin kansainvälisten toimijoiden kanssa myös ulkoministeriön eri osastojen välillä. Kabulin kentällä toimiva avustusryhmä oli avainasemassa, mutta operaation toteuttamiseen tarvittiin kymmenien eri ihmisten työpanos niin ulkoministeriössä Helsingissä kuin monessa ulkomaan edustustossa.

19.3.2021 | Ulkoministeri Pekka Haavisto osallistuu EU:n ulkoasiainneuvoston kokoukseen maanantaina 22.3. Brysselissä. Kokouksen pääaiheita ovat EU:n eteläinen naapurusto, Turkki ja keskustelu YK:n ihmisoikeusvaltuutettu Michelle Bachelet´n kanssa. Ministeri Haavisto osallistuu Brysselissä myös Naton ulkoministerikokoukseen 24. maaliskuuta.

4.10.2022 | Pääministeri Sanna Marin osallistuu kahteen huippukokoukseen, jotka ovat EU:n puheenjohtajamaan Tšekin pääkaupungissa Prahassa torstaina 6. ja perjantaina 7. lokakuuta. Torstaina järjestetään ensimmäistä kertaa Euroopan poliittisen yhteisön kokous, ja perjantaina Eurooppa-neuvoston jäsenten epävirallinen kokous.

25.11.2022 | Ulkoministeri Pekka Haavisto osallistuu puolustusliitto Naton ulkoministerikokoukseen Bukarestissa 29.–30. marraskuuta.

19.6.2024 | EU-ministerivaliokunta kävi kokouksessaan keskiviikkona 19. kesäkuuta keskustelun Suomen ennakkovaikuttamisesta sekä suomalaisten määrän lisäämisestä EU-tehtävissä. Lisäksi ministerivaliokunta keskusteli unionin laajentumisnäkymistä ja linjasi Suomen kantoja tuleviin neuvoston kokouksiin.

9.9.2021 | The rescue and evacuation operation in Afghanistan was in many ways unique and historic. Finland evacuated more than 400 people from Afghanistan in three weeks. This was possible through cooperation with national and international actors and between different departments of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The relief team at Kabul Airport played a key role, but the input of dozens of people both in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki and in many foreign missions was also required.

10.10.2022 | Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto was invited by the EU High Representative Joseph Borrell to address the European Union Heads of Mission.

21.6.2021 | The Council of the European Union has appointed Ambassador Terhi Hakala to serve as the EU Special Representative (EUSR) for Central Asia, starting on 1 July 2021.

19.3.2021 | Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Monday 22 March. The agenda highlights are the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood, Turkey and discussion with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet. In Brussels Minister Haavisto will also attend the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs on 24 March.

15.7.2021 | On Thursday 15 July, the President of the Republic appointed a new ambassador to Copenhagen and non-resident ambassadors to Liechtenstein and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

11.3.2022 | At their informal meeting in Versailles, France, on 10 and 11 March, the EU heads of state or government strongly condemned the attack launched by Russia on Ukraine two weeks ago and demanded that Russia withdraw its troops from the country immediately and unconditionally. The leaders also adopted the Versailles Declaration, which seeks to bolster the Union’s defence capabilities and develop its economic base.

16.4.2021 | The main topics to be discussed at the April meeting of the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs are the situation in Ethiopia and Ukraine. Finland’s representative at the informal video conference will be Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto. The Ministers will also hold an informal exchange with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.

15.12.2021 | At their summit in Brussels on Wednesday 15 December, the EU Member States and the countries in the Eastern Partnership adopted a joint declaration and a revised programme for Eastern Partnership policy beyond 2000. The long-term policy objectives emphasise recovery, resilience and reform. Prime Minister Sanna Marin represented Finland at the summit.
