14.7.2023 | At its plenary session on Friday 14 July, the Government appointed ministerial working groups of Prime Minister Orpo's Government. The ministerial working groups were appointed for a sustainable welfare society; employment and entrepreneurship; clean energy, the environment and security of supply; internal security and administration of justice; children, youth and families; physically active lifestyles and functional capacity; and social transformation.

7.7.2022 | The consultation round for the draft legislative proposal of the TE services reform 2024 ended on 27 June 2022. A total of 373 statements were submitted by the deadline. Based on the feedback, the Ministerial Working Group on Promoting Employment outlined certain new policies on 7 July concerning, among other things, the responsibility of municipalities for organising services, the provision of services, and the funding model.

26.6.2023 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has invited Henrik Vuornos, Kirsi Hölttä, Katri Manninen, Mikko Martikkala and Tuomas Tikkanen to serve as his Special Advisers. Jori Arvonen will serve as Orpo’s State Under-Secretary for EU Affairs. The diplomatic advisers who will assist the Prime Minister in international affairs will be appointed later.

21.11.2024 | On Thursday 21 November, the Government submitted its proposal to Parliament to amend the budget proposal for 2025. Some items in the proposal concern the Government's EUR 4 billion investment programme. The proposal will increase the revenue estimate by EUR 67 million and the requirement for appropriations by EUR 405 million.

A Knowledge specialist is an official of the Foreign Service who works under the Finnish Embassy in Singapore. The Ministry of Education and Culture is responsible for the position's content-related guidance.

21.9.2021 | The Government has submitted to Parliament a proposal on the nationwide use of the EU Digital COVID Certificate, or the COVID-19 passport. It is proposed that the provisions on the EU Digital COVID Certificate be added to the Communicable Diseases Act.

14.1.2022 | The Ministry of the Interior’s project examined ways to clarify the picture of migration to Finland in the next few years and its impacts on the Finnish migration administration, especially the Finnish Immigration Service. The aim is to ensure that the migration administration meets the needs of society by means of smooth services.

8.11.2021 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is launching a project to ensure the availability of skilled labour in all sectors throughout Finland. Sectoral working groups will seek short- and long-term solutions to improve the match between job vacancies and unemployed job seekers. They will also take steps to identify ways of guaranteeing that the objectives set for labour migration can be met.

8.3.2024 | The Finnish Government will draw up a national security strategy as part of the development of an operating model for the management of national security at the Government level. The strategy aims to identify and assess the most serious threats against Finland in more efficient and extensive ways through cooperation across administrative boundaries.

1.7.2021 | Today, on 1 July 2021, the State of Finland acquired 48.5 per cent of Finnair Plc's shares in the Finnish Aviation Academy Ltd. It now owns 98 per cent of the company. Finnair had previously announced, based on a shareholder agreement, that it wished to relinquish its ownership. The State paid a total of EUR 8.15 million for the acquisition. The Government decided on the matter in its plenary session on 10 June 2021.

22.6.2022 | The labour market roadmap project aims to improve the match between jobs and workers. The data model built in the project uses data in more diverse ways than before. In this way, the special characteristics of different sectors can be considered in more detail in order to create a more accurate picture of the types of open vacancies, labour reserves and occupational differences.

The strategy’s vision is that in 2030, the Finnish legislation on intellectual property rights will support innovations and creative work. State Secretary to Ministers Annika Saarikko, Matti Vanhanen, Jari Leppä, Mika Lintilä and Antti Kaikkonen from 7 January 2021 onwards. The State Secretaries’ terms end with those of the ministers.

The new action plan for prevention of labour exploitation will tackle the phenomenon with legislative reforms and increased cooperation between the authorities during the government term.

This total number (258 million files) includes only the legal private copying as defined in the Copyright Act. In the 2019 survey, the corresponding estimate of private copying was 275–297 million files. Similar information was gathered by Taloustutkimus in 2019.
