    17.9.2025 | The EU Environment Council will convene at an extraordinary meeting in Brussels on 18 September. The aim is to agree on the letter of intent to be submitted to the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Climate Change. The letter would concern the EU’s emission reduction commitment, i.e. the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The ministers will also discuss the EU’s 2040 climate target and the proposal to amend the European Climate Law.

    16.10.2023 | The EU ministers responsible for the environment and climate change issues will meet in Luxembourg on 16 October to discuss the EU’s objectives for the negotiations at the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Dubai. The conclusions to be adopted by the Environment Council will constitute the EU’s objective for the Climate Change Conference. Finland’s representative at the Environment Council will be Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen.

The implementation of the knowledge and climate change resilient solutions produced in the package of 180 measures will continue and be further intensified through cooperation in different parts of the country. Minister Essayah will deliver the keynote speech at the Scaling Up Bioeconomy Conference 2024 in Ottawa. Finland is the Feature Country of this year’s conference. In addition, the Minister and the business delegation will visit the province of Quebec.
