    23.4.2026 | ​​​​​​​On 23 April 2024, the Finnish Government submitted to Parliament a proposal to amend the Nuclear Energy Act and the Criminal Code. The Government proposes to remove the legal barriers on importing nuclear devices into Finland and on transporting, supplying or possessing them in Finland in the context of Finland’s homeland defence, the collective defence of NATO or defence cooperation.

  2. Restrictions on entry into Finland extended until 18 March - Finnish Government

    18.2.2021 | On 18 February, the Government decided to extend the current restrictions on entry into the country until 18 March 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, and there are not yet adequate measures available to replace internal border controls. For this reason, and to curb the spread of COVID-19 variants, both internal and external border controls will continue until 18 March. No substantive changes will be made to the decisions taken on 11 February 2021.

  3. New EU Regulation on European Globalisation Adjustment Fund makes application criteria less strict - Finnish Government

    3.5.2021 | The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced workers (EGF, formerly European Globalisation Adjustment Fund) continues to operate during the EU programming period 2021–2027.   4. Municipalities to take over TE services in 2024 – ministerial working group decides on principles of reform - Finnish Government

    1.9.2021 | In its mid-term policy review in spring 2021, the Government decided to continue preparations for the transfer of employment and economic development services (TE services) to municipalities. The services will be transferred to municipalities in 2024. At its meeting of 31 August 2021, the Ministerial Working Group on Promoting Employment decided on the principles that relate to the employment base of municipalities providing services, cooperation between municipalities and the transfer of staff.

  7. Online survey on the climate plan attracted 18,000 responses - Finnish Government

    22.2.2021 | The Ministry of the Environment organised an online survey to gather people’s views and opinions on how emissions can be reduced effectively and fairly. The number of responses that came in during the four weeks the survey was open was very high, more than 18,000. The responses will be used for the preparation of the Medium-Term Climate Change Policy Plan.

  8. Temporary amendments to business development aid to continue until the end of 2021 - Finnish Government

    23.6.2021 | Since 19 October 2020, ELY Centres have been able to grant business development aid as temporary State aid under the Finnish COVID-19 aid scheme. In addition, aid has been granted to small companies that have been in difficulties before 1 January 2020. The Government will continue the temporary amendments until 31 December 2021.
