  1. Citizens’ Jury to deliberate the fairness and impact of Finland’s emission reduction measures - Finnish Government

    15.3.2021 | During this spring, a Citizens’ Jury on Climate Actions will be convened to find out the people’s views and proposals for solutions concerning Finland’s emission reduction measures. A total of 8,000 Finns will receive an invitation letter to participate in the Citizens’ Jury, which is the first nation-wide Jury on climate issues in Finland. Of those invited, a maximum of 50 persons will be selected to the Jury.

  2. Government proposal to expand employers’ right to check criminal records of people working with children - Finnish Government

    4.2.2021 | The Government proposes that employers would have the right to conduct criminal record checks on people who work with children in short-term positions. The proposal aims to promote the protection of minors. Currently, employers are only authorised to investigate the backgrounds of people who work with children longer than three months during a one-year period.

  3. Government and central labour market organisations commit to promoting equality in pay - Finnish Government

    18.1.2021 | Minister for Nordic Cooperation and Equality Thomas Blomqvist, Minister of Employment Tuula Haatainen, Minister of Education Jussi Saramo and the heads of central labour market organisations will meet on Tuesday 19 January to discuss equal pay. The meeting will focus on how to implement the joint Equal Pay Programme adopted in late 2020. The aim is to reduce the average pay gap between women and men faster.

  4. The relief work in Afghanistan was a major joint effort - Finnish Government

    9.9.2021 | The rescue and evacuation operation in Afghanistan was in many ways unique and historic. Finland evacuated more than 400 people from Afghanistan in three weeks. This was possible through cooperation with national and international actors and between different departments of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The relief team at Kabul Airport played a key role, but the input of dozens of people both in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki and in many foreign missions was also required.
