14.4.2026 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra will participate in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington DC on 15–17 April. The main themes for the week of meetings are the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on the global economy and creating jobs and growth in developing economies.

17.12.2025 | Finland will participate in the 17th replenishment of the African Development Fund (AfDF-17) to support sustainable economic growth in the poorest countries on the continent. The objective of the African Development Fund (AfDF) is to reduce poverty by promoting the economic and social development of African countries. Finland is also involved in supporting Africa’s debt sustainability.

16.4.2024 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra will participate in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC on 18–19 April. The most difficult subject on the agenda is the geopolitical situation, particularly Ukraine and Gaza.

14.10.2023 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra attended the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Marrakech, Morocco this week. The meetings focused on the main issues facing the international economy and the current global situation. The most difficult issue raised at the meetings was condemning Russia for its war of aggression against Ukraine.

19.6.2024 | In its meeting on Wednesday 19 June, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the progress of Finland’s efforts to influence EU policy and ways to increase the number of Finns working in EU institutions. The Ministerial Committee also discussed the Union’s enlargement prospects and outlined Finland’s positions for upcoming meetings.

10.10.2022 | Minister of Finance Annika Saarikko will attend the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington on 13–15 October. The Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action will also meet on 12 October, and Minister Saarikko will chair the meeting.

19.4.2022 | The Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action will hold its spring meeting on Tuesday 19 April. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will be held virtually in connection with the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Finland has served as the one of the chairs of the Coalition since 2019, and the meeting is due to decide on extending the term by one more year until spring 2023.

4.4.2022 | Convening at the Lahti Adaptation Finance Ministerial on 3-4 April, 2022, members of the Champions Group on Adaptation Finance reiterated their commitment to work together to respond to growing climate change adaptation needs. At the Ministerial, the Champions Group discussed the key priorities for its work including increasing the level, quality and accessibility of adaptation finance, ensuring a balance with mitigation finance, and that it reaches those most in need.

11.10.2021 | The Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday 11 October. Finland will have an important role in the meeting, as Minister of Finance Annika Saarikko will chair the meeting jointly with Indonesia’s Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.

14.4.2026 | Valtiovarainministeri Riikka Purra osallistuu Kansainvälisen valuuttarahaston (IMF) ja Maailmanpankin kevätkokouksiin Washingtonissa 15.–17. huhtikuuta. Kokousviikon pääteemoiksi nousevat Lähi-idän konfliktin vaikutukset maailmantalouteen sekä työpaikkojen ja kasvun luominen kehittyvissä talouksissa.

19.1.2026 | Kansainvälinen valuuttarahasto (IMF) julkisti vuosittaisen raporttinsa Suomen taloudesta maanantaina 19. tammikuuta. IMF:n mukaan julkisen talouden vahvistamista täytyy jatkaa useiden vuosien ajan.

19.1.2026 | Internationella valutafonden (IMF) offentliggjorde måndagen den 19 januari sin årliga rapport om Finlands ekonomi. Stärkandet av de offentliga finanserna måste enligt IMF fortsättas under flera år.

10.11.2025 | Finlands offentliga finanser måste anpassas med ca 1,5 miljarder euro per år, bedömer Internationella valutafonden (IMF). Anpassningen bör fortsätta tills underskotten försvinner och skulden börjar minska. IMF offentliggjorde sitt utlåtande om Finlands ekonomi måndagen den 10 november.
