27.5.2026 | Starting on 2 July 2026, government sessions will be held in the Government Banquet Hall on Eteläesplanadi. During the renovation, the ministers who work at the Government Palace and the personnel of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Chancellor of Justice will mostly move to the building located next to the Banquet Hall at Eteläesplanadi 4. 

18.6.2025 | Senate Properties will begin a major renovation of the National Archives’ main building at Rauhankatu 17 in spring 2026. At the same time, the building will be adapted into a shared workspace for the National Archives, the Institute for the Languages of Finland, the Finnish National Agency for Education, the Accessibility Library Celia, and the Research Council of Finland. These agencies will move into the premises in autumn 2028.

14.8.2026 | A new multi-purpose building for the Army Academy will be constructed in the Lappeenranta garrison area. The building will gather accommodation, training, library and storage facilities, as well as the maintenance and common facilities supporting them, under one roof.

3.6.2026 | The Government submitted its second supplementary budget proposal for 2026 to Parliament on 3 June. The supplementary budget includes employment measures outlined in the spending limits session and investments in counter-drone capabilities and defence more broadly. The proposal also includes an increase to revenue estimates.

22.9.2025 | A total of EUR 238.8 million in appropriations is proposed for the main title of the Prime Minister’s Office. The draft budget appropriations cover the operating expenses of both the Prime Minister’s Office and the Office of the Chancellor of Justice, the salary expenses of ministers, state secretaries and special advisers, as well as subsidies to political parties, among other things.

9.10.2023 | The Ministry of Education and Culture’s proportion of the 2024 budget proposal is EUR 8.0 billion, which is EUR 274 million more than in the 2023 Budget. The budget proposal implements the Programme of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's Government by raising the level of education and competence of the entire population. The measures in the budget proposal aim to strengthen the effectiveness of science and improve the conditions for conducting research and development.

The proposed appropriations for the administrative branch of the Ministry of Education and Culture total EUR 7.41 million. Next year’s budget will continue to focus on improving quality and equity in education and on safeguarding funding for science and research. Funds will also be allocated for rebuilding the cultural sector in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Some items in the proposal concern the Government's EUR 4 billion investment programme. The proposal will increase the revenue estimate by EUR 67 million and the requirement for appropriations by EUR 405 million.

While on the face of it this space may appear to be the same as before, the Ritarikatu Hall, where the panel discussions are being held, is not easily recognisable.
