  1. 26.8.2022 | Finland has made significant progress on climate change adaptation in recent years, which is reflected in the legislation and strategies of different administrative branches. These strategic objectives should now be implemented more widely by increasing concrete measures both in individual sectors and at the regional and municipal levels. This is according to a new overall evaluation of progress on national climate change adaptation policy published on 26 August.

  5. 1.4.2025 | The use of coal in Finnish energy production will end this spring as energy companies Helen and Vantaan Energia will close their last remaining power plant units using coal. The energy use of coal will thus end four years before the deadline of May 2029 required by law. In this way, Finland is taking another major step towards an energy system that is cleaner, more self-sufficient and climate neutral.

  12. 6.5.2021 | Finland will contribute EUR 3 million to the COVID-19 Emergency Appeal of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to help India, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Niger. Finland will help India with EUR 1 million and the other three countries with nearly EUR 500,000 each. The Finnish Red Cross will also provide material assistance.
