15.10.2021 | EU foreign ministers will convene in Luxembourg on Monday 18 October. The main items on the agenda will be the EU’s Eastern Partnership, Ethiopia, the Persian Gulf and Nicaragua. Topical issues on the agenda will include Afghanistan, climate diplomacy, Tunisia and the Western Balkans.

25.5.2023 | Minister of Employment Tuula Haatainen will participate in the Porto Social Forum on 26–27 May 2023. The meeting will discuss the EU’s social dimension, effects of the green and digital transition on the labour market, investments in skills and education, and child poverty.

23.3.2023 | In its meeting on 23, the European Council discussed the EU’s support for Ukraine and the global effects of the war. Also present at the meeting were UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the latter of whom joined the EU leaders via videoconference. The second main theme of the day was strengthening Europe’s long-term competitiveness.

27.10.2021 | The Parties to the UN Climate Change Agreement will meet in Glasgow, Great Britain on 31 October–12 November. This is the first meeting since the start of the term of the Paris Agreement in 2020. The key aim is to accelerate actions by countries towards stricter emission reductions.

22.10.2021 | In its meeting in Brussels on 21 October, the European Council discussed the spike in energy prices, the rule of law situation in the EU, the COVID-19 pandemic and trade policy. The Council also addressed external relations issues, including the COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, the Eastern Partnership and the ASEM summit. Prime Minister Sanna Marin is representing Finland at the meeting, which will continue on Friday.

7.5.2021 | Minister of European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen met with Ana Paula Zacarias, the Portuguese State Secretary for European Affairs and President of the General Affairs Council, in connection with the EU Social Summit in Porto, Portugal. In their bilateral meeting, they discussed the informal General Affairs Council meeting taking place in Coimbra, Portugal on 17 May, the agenda for which will include the rule of law and the upcoming Conference on the Future of Europe.

8.5.2021 | On Saturday 8 May, Prime Minister Sanna Marin and the other European Council members took part in an informal social summit. At the meeting hosted by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU, the leaders adopted the Porto Declaration emphasising the importance of social issues for the economic recovery of the Union. The EU leaders also had a discussion via videoconference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

18.6.2020 | The video meeting of the leaders of the EU Member States, EU institutions and the EU’s Eastern Partnership countries on 18 June reaffirmed cooperation between the EU and its Eastern Partners, which are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The decision to hold the meeting despite the COVID-19 situation demonstrates the importance of the Eastern Partnership and the EU’s commitment to it. Prime Minister Sanna Marin represented Finland.
