12.2.2025 | Social- och hälsovårdsminister Kaisa Juuso deltar i det möte som ordnas i New York 10–14 februari av FN:s kommission för social utveckling. Under mötet ska man förbereda inför FN:s toppmöte om den globala sociala utvecklingen (UN Social Summit 2025) som år 2025 ordnas i Qatar i november.  

9.2.2024 | Utrikesministeriet ber om utlåtanden om utkastet till ändring av republikens presidents förordning om placeringsorterna för Finlands beskickningar i utlandet och ordnandet av konsulära tjänster i utrikesförvaltningen. Remisstiden pågår fram till den 20 mars 2024.

16.10.2024 | In their first-ever summit in Brussels on Wednesday 16 October, the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) outlined a vision for closer cooperation. For Finland, it was important that the joint statement issued at the summit condemn Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.

16.10.2024 | Det första toppmötet mellan EU och Gulfstaternas samarbetsråd (GCC) hölls i Bryssel onsdagen den 16 oktober. Deltagarländerna uttryckte en gemensam vilja att fördjupa samarbetet. För Finland var det viktigt att man i uttalandet från toppmötet fördömde Rysslands anfallskrig mot Ukraina.

15.4.2024 | The 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) took place in New York between 11 and 22 March. The theme of the session was ‘Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective’.

15.4.2024 | Det 68:e mötet för FN:s kvinnokommission (Commission on the Status of Women, CSW) ordnades i New York den 11–22 mars. Mötets tema var främjande av jämställdheten och förbättrande av kvinnors och flickors ställning genom att minska fattigdomen samt stärkande av institutioner och utvecklingsfinansieringen med tanke på könsperspektivet.

5.2.2023 | Minister Ville Skinnari besöker Qatar den 5–7 februari 2023. Den 5 februari öppnade han i egenskap av finska statens representant officiellt Finlands nya ambassad i Doha. Ambassaden inledde verksamheten i december 2021. Under resan ska minister Skinnari också träffa myndigheter, företrädare för näringslivet och forskare. Resans syfte är att bidra till relationerna och handeln mellan Finland och Qatar.

10.12.2021 | The EU Foreign Ministers will meet in Brussels on Monday 13 December. State Secretary Johanna Sumuvuori will represent Finland at the meeting. The Foreign Affairs Council will focus on EU-Africa relations, Central Asia and Venezuela. During a working lunch, ministers will have an informal exchange with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

10.12.2021 | EU:n ulkoministerit kokoontuvat Brysselissä maanantaina 13.12. Suomea kokouksessa edustaa valtiosihteeri Johanna Sumuvuori. Ulkoasiainneuvoston pääaiheita ovat EU-Afrikka suhteet, Keski-Aasia ja Venezuela. Lounastapaamisessa ulkoasianneuvosto keskustelee Qatarin varapääministerinä ja ulkoministerinä toimivan Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thanin kanssa. Ulkoasiainneuvoston ajankohtaisina aiheina esillä ovat Valko-Venäjä, Varosha, Etiopia ja Ukraina.

22.6.2021 | The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is making preparations to expand and strengthen the network of Finnish missions abroad. A new embassy will be opened in Doha, Qatar. The embassy would commence operations at some point later this year. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that the country will establish an embassy in Finland, too.

22.6.2021 | Utrikesministeriet bereder en utvidgning och förstärkning av Finlands utrikesrepresentation med öppnandet av en ny ambassad i Qatars huvudstad Doha. Enligt planen ska ambassaden inleda sin verksamhet under 2021. Också Qatars utrikesministerium har meddelat att landet inrättar en ambassad i Finland.

6.10.2022 | Heli Kanerva, Head of Mission at Finland’s Embassy to Afghanistan, has faced many challenges in her work. A massive evacuation operation started in Afghanistan after the extremist organisation Taliban seized power in August 2021. In a precarious situation, Finland is taking global responsibility, supporting the realisation of human rights and meeting the basic needs of Afghans in distress. In particular, Finland is focusing on securing the position of girls and women.

6.10.2022 | Chefen för Finlands ambassad i Afghanistan Heli Kanerva har ett jobb som är fullt med utmaningar. Extremistorganisationen Taliban tog över makten i Afghanistan i augusti 2021, vilket ledde till en enorm evakueringsinsats. I det instabila läget vill Finland ta sitt globala ansvar, bidra till att de mänskliga rättigheterna blir tillgodosedda och att de lidande afghanerna får sina basala behov tillfredsställda. Fokus ligger särskilt på att trygga flickors och kvinnors ställning.

14.1.2022 | Vid presidentföredragningen fredagen den 14 januari utnämnde republikens president utrikesrådet Pekka Voutilainen till chef för Finlands ambassad i Qatar.

14.1.2022 | At the presidential session on Friday 14 January, the President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Pekka Voutilainen to serve as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Qatar.

27.5.2022 | In line with the Government Programme, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will continue to expand and strengthen its network of missions. The Finnish Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, which was closed in 2012 due to the reduction of the network of missions, will be reopened in the autumn. Finland will also open a new Consulate General in Mumbai, India.

3.12.2021 | Today, the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö approved an amendment to the Decree of the President of the Republic on the Foreign Service. The amendment concerning the locations of Finland’s diplomatic missions and the provision of consular services in the Diplomatic Service will enter into force on 10 December 2021. With the amendment, embassies of Finland will be established in Dakar, Senegal, and in Doha, Qatar, as of 10 December 2021.
