4.10.2022 | On Thursday 6 and Friday 7 October, Prime Minister Sanna Marin will attend two high-level meetings hosted by the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in Prague. The first ever meeting of the European Political Community will take place on Thursday, followed by an informal meeting of the members of the European Council on Friday.

Mer än 40 europeiska länders stats- och regeringschefer samlades till det första mötet i den europeiska politiska gemenskapen.

6.10.2022 | At the meeting of European leaders in Prague on Thursday 6 October, Prime Minister Sanna Marin stressed that Europe must continue its strong and united support to Ukraine so that Ukraine can win the war. The first meeting of the European Political Community brought together the heads of state or government of more than 40 countries across Europe.

29.6.2021 | On 29 June, the Government decided on country-specific changes to the restrictions on entry into Finland on the basis of the epidemiological situation. Internal border controls will be lifted for Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein and Slovakia from 1 July.

Gränskontrollen vid de inre gränserna avskaffas i fråga om Italien, Österrike, Liechtenstein, Tyskland, Slovakien och Tjeckien från och med den 1 juli.

16.9.2021 | Statsrådet godkände Finlands deltagande i sju program för europeiskt territoriellt samarbete, det vill säga Interreg-program. Med programmen stöds gränsöverskridande, transnationellt och interregionalt samarbete. Programmen ingår i EU:s kommande programperiod för regional- och strukturpolitik och medfinansieras av Europeiska regionala utvecklingsfonden (ERUF).

16.9.2021 | The Government has approved Finland’s participation in seven European regional co-operation programmes, i.e. the Interreg programme series. These programmes support cross-border, transnational and interregional co-operation. They are part of the upcoming EU regional and structural policy programming period, and are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

13.1.2021 | The EU health ministers will hold an informal videoconference on Wednesday 13 January. The theme of the conference will be the rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations in the EU Member States. Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Krista Kiuru will represent Finland at the conference.

8.9.2021 | Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet, Institutet för hälsa och välfärd och Folkpensionsanstalten börjar bereda det tekniska genomförandet och en verksamhetsmodell med hjälp av vilka man i Finland kan bevilja EU:s coronavaccinationsintyg till personer som har vaccinerats i länder utanför EU med de covid-19-vaccin som Europeiska läkemedelsmyndigheten (EMA) har godkänt.

8.9.2021 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare and the Social Insurance Institution of Finland will start preparing the technical implementation and operating model which will allow Finland to issue the EU COVID-19 vaccination certificate to people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in a non-EU country.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, and we do not yet have adequate measures available to replace the restrictions. For this reason, and to curb the spread of COVID-19 variants, both internal border controls and restrictions on external border traffic will continue. Minor amendments will be made to the decisions adopted on 22 April. These will enter into force on 24 May.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, and we do not yet have adequate measures available to replace the restrictions. For this reason, and to curb the spread of COVID-19 variants, both internal border controls and restrictions on external border traffic will continue. Some amendments will be made to the decisions adopted on 20 May. These will enter into force on 7 June.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, and there are not yet adequate measures available to replace internal border controls. For this reason, and to curb the spread of COVID-19 variants, both internal and external border controls will continue until 18 March. No substantive changes will be made to the decisions taken on 11 February 2021.

22.4.2021 | On 22 April, the Government decided to extend the restrictions on entry into the country until 25 May 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, and we do not yet have adequate measures available to replace the restrictions. For this reason, and to curb the spread of COVID-19 variants, both internal border controls and restrictions on external border traffic will continue. No substantive changes were made to the decisions taken on 31 March. The decisions will enter into force on 26 April.

Coronapandemin pågår fortfarande, och det finns ännu inte tillräckliga åtgärder som kunde ersätta restriktionerna. Både av denna anledning och för att förebygga spridningen av virusvarianter förlängs gränskontrollen vid de inre gränserna och begränsningarna i trafiken över de yttre gränserna. I de beslut som fattades den 22 april görs små ändringar som träder i kraft den 24 maj.

For this reason, and to curb the spread of COVID-19 variants, both internal border controls and restrictions on external border traffic will continue. No substantive changes were made to the decisions taken on 11 March. The changes will enter into force on 1 April.

Både av denna anledning och för att förebygga spridningen av virusvarianter förlängs gränskontrollen såväl vid de inre gränserna som vid de yttre gränserna fram till den 18 mars.

17.6.2021 | Entry into Finland from EU and Schengen countries will be allowed for those who have received an approved COVID-19 vaccination series and those who have recovered from COVID-19 less than six months ago prior to entry.
