4.5.2021 | Early this year, Twinning activities were extended to seven new countries under the three-year pilot of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA). The results of the calls for proposals for the first two pilot projects have already been published, and Finland is very proud to have been awarded both projects. Finland will now help Zambia enhance anti-corruption measures and audits of central government finances.

3.12.2021 | Today, the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö approved an amendment to the Decree of the President of the Republic on the Foreign Service. The amendment concerning the locations of Finland’s diplomatic missions and the provision of consular services in the Diplomatic Service will enter into force on 10 December 2021. With the amendment, embassies of Finland will be established in Dakar, Senegal, and in Doha, Qatar, as of 10 December 2021.

27.5.2022 | In line with the Government Programme, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will continue to expand and strengthen its network of missions. The Finnish Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, which was closed in 2012 due to the reduction of the network of missions, will be reopened in the autumn. Finland will also open a new Consulate General in Mumbai, India.

31.1.2023 | Suomen kehitysyhteistyössä on tapahtunut hiljainen vallankumous: kehitysvaikutuksia tavoitellaan myös sijoittamalla eli käytetyt varat palautuvat takaisin Suomeen pienen tuoton kera. Viime vuonna valtiolle kertyi noin 2,2 miljoonaa euroa kehityspoliittisista lainoista ja rahastoista.

23.8.2021 | Ulkoministeriö valmistelee edustustoverkon laajentamista ja vahvistamista. Uuden suurlähetystön avaamista valmistellaan Senegalin Dakariin. Suurlähetystön on tarkoitus aloittaa toimintansa vuoden 2021 aikana. Edustustoverkko vahvistui viimeksi syyskuussa 2020, kun Suomi avasi uudelleen suurlähetystönsä Manilassa, Filippiineillä. Dakarin lisäksi Suomi valmistelee parhaillaan edustuston avaamista Qatarin pääkaupunkiin Dohaan.

31.1.2023 | A silent revolution has taken place in Finland’s development cooperation: Finland is now seeking development impacts through investments, meaning that the invested capital flows back to Finland with a slight profit. Last year, development policy loans and funds yielded around EUR 2.2 million in revenue for the central government.

23.8.2021 | The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is making preparations to expand and strengthen the network of Finnish missions abroad. A new embassy will be opened in Dakar, Senegal. The embassy would start operations at some point later this year. In September 2020, Finland reopened its embassy in Manila, the Philippines. In addition to Dakar, Finland is currently preparing to open a mission in the capital of Qatar, Doha.

8.6.2022 | Suomi on avannut ensimmäisen suurlähetystönsä ranskankielisessä Länsi-Afrikassa. Lähetystössä työnsä aloittaneet suurlähettiläs Anu Saxén ja hallintovastaava Maija-Liisa Vähäkuopus kertovat, miksi edustusto avattiin juuri Dakariin ja miten edustusto perustetaan.

2.1.2023 | Ulkoministeri Pekka Haavisto matkustaa 2.–3. tammikuuta Senegalin pääkaupunkiin Dakariin, missä hän tapaa maan ulkoministerin Aïssata Tall Sallin ja muuta valtiojohtoa.

14.2.2024 | Ljubljanan – Haagin yleissopimus yhteistyöstä kansainvälisten rikosten tutkinnassa ja syytteeseenpanossa allekirjoitettiin Haagissa tänään 14.2.2024. Suomen puolesta sopimuksen allekirjoitti oikeusministerin valtiosihteeri Teija Makkonen.

Lisäksi tasavallan presidentti sivuakkreditoi Pretorian-suurlähettilään Pekka Metson Mauritiukselle.

8.12.2025 | The seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly UNEA, the world’s highest-level decision-making body for matters related to the environment, will take place in Nairobi, Kenya from 8 to 12 December 2025. The theme of the session is ‘Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet’. Finland’s UNEA delegation in Nairobi will be led by Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.
