The Ministry of the Interior recommends that the national flag be flown throughout the country to mark the Baltic countries’ 100 years of independence on the following days:

  • Lithuania, 16 February 2018
  • Estonia, 24 February 2018
  • Latvia, 18 November 2018.

On Lithuania’s and Estonia’s national days, flags are to be raised at 8.00 in the morning and lowered at sunset. On Latvia’s national day in November, flags are to be raised at 8.00 and lowered at 16.00.

The Baltic and Nordic countries form a unique reference group for Finland in the fields of history, social development, trade, economy and foreign and security policy. By flying the national flag, Finland wants to mark its close partners’ centennial jubilee year. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania raised their flags in honour of Finland’s 100 years of independence on 6 December 2017.

The Ministry of the Interior has issued an order on flying the national flag at the Government Palace, the ministries and Parliament on the days when the Baltic countries celebrate their 100th anniversary of independence.
