On 16 April, the Government issued a resolution confirming the amount of non-assigned voluntary funding that Finland will grant to the World Health Organization. In line with the resolution, the voluntary funding, which was discontinued in 2016, will be restored to the 2015 level of EUR 5.5 million.

The decision will have no effect Finland’s assessed contribution to the WHO or other membership-based contributions paid to WHO subordinate bodies, nor will it affect the EUR 1 million in funding granted this year to the WHO’s COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan.

The resolution is based on a joint decision made by the Government on 15 April to support the work and role of the WHO in the face of this exceptionally challenging situation. At the same time, Finland expresses its support for a strong and effective multilateral order and encourages the rest of the international community to do the same.
