Marina Erhola appointed Under-Secretary of State for Guidance of Healthcare and Social Welfare

Marina Erhola, Doctor of Medical Science and County Chief Executive of the wellbeing services county of Pirkanmaa, will start in the position of Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health on 1 January 2025. As part of her work, she will also support the Ministry of Finance in guiding the wellbeing services counties. Erhola’s duties will include the national guidance of healthcare and social welfare.

Her term of office will be one year. During this term, Erhola will also serve as Strategic Adviser to the management group of the wellbeing services county of Pirkanmaa.

The key duties of the Under-Secretary of State are to support the ongoing health and social services reform and to ensure that the objectives set for the reform are achieved. The position of Under-Secretary of State, which falls outside the departmental division at the Ministries, is placed under the direct guidance of the Permanent Secretaries.

It is proposed to the Pirkanmaa county executive that Director of Corporate Services Juhani Sand serve as Acting County Chief Executive during Erhola’s leave of absence.

The Pirkanmaa county executive will discuss the arrangements related to this public post on 25 November.
