Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction starts operating on 1 March – Interim Director appointed
The operations of the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland Ara as an independent agency will end. Its tasks will be transferred to the Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction established in connection with the Ministry of the Environment, which starts operating on 1 March.
Juho Korpi, Development Director at the Ministry of the Environment, has been appointed as the Interim Director of the Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction. The selection process to appoint the Centre’s Director is under way and the new Director will begin working later.
The Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction operates in connection with the Ministry of the Environment. It will manage the statutory tasks that used to belong to the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland Ara. The change has no impact on the housing policy, customer relations or support and subsidies granted for the construction and renovation of dwellings.
The Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction grants state support and subsidies for housing and construction, supervises and guides state-subsidised housing construction and is responsible for the information services related to housing and the housing market. The activities of the Centre are divided among three groups: the Finance Group, the Supervision Group and the Housing Information Services Group. The staff is composed of about 40 public officials, who were transferred to the Centre from Ara. To promote efficiency, the Ministry of the Environment and the Centre have shared administration, support and communication services. About 10 public officials from Ara were transferred to these services.
The President of the Republic approved the Act Repealing the Act on the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland and the Act on the Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction and certain related acts on 19 December 2024.
