Telephone line opened between Finnish and Russian defence administrations for disruptions and emergency situations

Finland and Russia established a new telephone line to improve mutual exchange of information concerning the prevention ofdifferent accidents, disruptions and emergency situations in Finland's neighbouring regions.
The line was opened on 1 November 2017 and it will function on a 24/7 basis all year round. The working language will be English. The initiative for this was taken by the MoD of Finland during the meeting of Permanent Secretary Jukka Juusti and LtGen A. Fomin, Russia's Deputy Minister of Defence, in May 2017 in Moscow.
