Nordic ministers to accelerate climate action
Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä and the Minister of the Environment, Energy and Housing Kimmo Tiilikainen have invited Prime Ministers and Climate Ministers from the Nordic countries to Helsinki on Friday 25 January to strengthen joint Nordic action on climate change.
The aim of the meeting is to flesh out concrete steps towards a carbon neutral Nordic Region. Ministers will explore ways to enhance Nordic cooperation as well as how to scale up Nordic low-carbon solutions and meet global demand.
The basis of the initiative is the need to rapidly respond to the climate change by reducing emissions more and faster, as highlighted by the IPCC report published in October 2018.
During the meeting Prime Minister Sipilä will have bilateral talks with the Prime Ministers of Iceland and Norway.
