10.10.2025 | Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia on 13–15 October. This is her first visit to the South Caucasus as the Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

29.4.2026 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at the eighth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) to be held in the Armenian capital on Monday 4 May. The theme of the summit is Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe. Along with the heads of state or government of the countries involved in the EPC, representatives of EU institutions and the secretaries-general of NATO, the OSCE and the Council of Europe have been invited to the summit.

4.5.2026 | Prime Minister Orpo represented Finland at the eighth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in the Armenian capital of Yerevan on Monday 4 May. The theme of the summit was building the future through unity and stability in Europe.

20.10.2023 | Because of the escalating conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, more than 100,000 Armenians have fled the region towards Armenia. Armenia has therefore requested assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This includes, among other things, necessities such as food packages, clothing and hygiene supplies.

12.12.2025 | EU foreign ministers will convene for a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on 15 December. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will represent Finland at the meeting.

12.12.2025 | In its meeting on Friday 12 December, the Ministerial Committee on EU Affairs decided that Finland would support the European Commission’s proposal to allow a qualified majority vote on keeping immobilised Russian assets frozen indefinitely.

20.10.2023 | The EU foreign ministers will convene in Luxembourg on 23 October. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will represent Finland at the meeting. After the Council meeting, the EU foreign ministers will meet with the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries.

28.2.2025 | The resumed session of the UN Biodiversity Conference in Rome reached an understanding on developing the financial architecture for biodiversity and on the monitoring and common review of biodiversity work.

8.12.2023 | EU foreign ministers will convene in Brussels on 11 December. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will represent Finland at the meeting.

15.3.2024 | At its meeting on 15 March, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs outlined Finland’s positions on the European Commission’s vision for the post-2030 transition towards climate neutrality by 2050. In addition, the Ministerial Committee outlined Finland’s positions on the development of the EU’s Action Plan on Military Mobility and the national action plan.

22.6.2023 | EU foreign ministers will convene in Luxembourg on 26 June. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will represent Finland at the meeting.

20.10.2023 | On 20 October, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the use of the EU Hybrid Toolbox, possible enlargement of the EU, and the Proposal for a Directive on Business in Europe: Framework for Income Taxation. The Ministerial Committee also outlined Finland's positions for the three forthcoming Council meetings.

27.10.2023 | The European Union will continue to provide strong military, financial, economic and diplomatic support and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The EU leaders decided on the matter on the closing day of the European Council held in Brussels on 26–27 October. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo represented Finland at the meeting.

20.1.2023 | EU foreign ministers will convene in Brussels on 23 January. Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will represent Finland at the meeting.

4.10.2022 | On Thursday 6 and Friday 7 October, Prime Minister Sanna Marin will attend two high-level meetings hosted by the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in Prague. The first ever meeting of the European Political Community will take place on Thursday, followed by an informal meeting of the members of the European Council on Friday.

6.10.2022 | At the meeting of European leaders in Prague on Thursday 6 October, Prime Minister Sanna Marin stressed that Europe must continue its strong and united support to Ukraine so that Ukraine can win the war. The first meeting of the European Political Community brought together the heads of state or government of more than 40 countries across Europe.
