28.10.2025 | According to Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, the Nordic countries have an increasingly important role in the current security policy situation. Prime Minister Orpo attended the meeting of the Nordic prime ministers and heads of government and the Nordic Council’s plenary session in Stockholm on 28 October.

25.10.2024 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will attend the Nordic Council Session in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 28–31 October along with Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz, who is responsible for Nordic cooperation, and Minister of Science and Culture Sari Multala.

26.5.2025 | Discussions at the Nordic prime ministers’ summer meeting in Paimio focused mainly on security in the Nordic region and the Baltic Sea region and on the situation in Ukraine. The meeting was held in Paimio and Turku on 26 May. 

16.6.2022 | The Government has appointed Jari Luoto, Master of Social Sciences, as Director General at the Prime Minister’s Office for a fixed term period from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2027.

26.2.2025 | The Research and Innovation Council requests comments on the strategic choices for RDI policy and activities to be submitted between 26 February and 10 March. The preparation group of the Research and Innovation Council decided on the proposals for choices to be circulated for comments at its meeting on 25 February.

26.6.2023 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has invited Henrik Vuornos, Kirsi Hölttä, Katri Manninen, Mikko Martikkala and Tuomas Tikkanen to serve as his Special Advisers. Jori Arvonen will serve as Orpo’s State Under-Secretary for EU Affairs. The diplomatic advisers who will assist the Prime Minister in international affairs will be appointed later.

10.10.2024 | In the plan, Finland commits to complying with a net expenditure path (i.e. a maximum permitted growth rate for net expenditure) for the next four years. The net expenditure path is compatible with the adjustment measures outlined in the Government Programme and General Government Fiscal Plan.

27.10.2021 | Prime Minister Sanna Marin will attend the 73rd Session of the Nordic Council and the meeting of Nordic Prime Ministers in Copenhagen on Wednesday 3 November. This year, Finland holds the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which is the official body for intergovernmental Nordic cooperation.

3.11.2021 | The Nordic Prime Ministers have adopted a joint statement on security of supply and preparedness. In the statement, the Nordic countries emphasise the importance of preparedness and cooperation in an unstable and unpredictable operating environment.

13.4.2022 | On Wednesday 13 April, the Government adopted a report on changes in the security environment and submitted it to Parliament for consideration. The report assesses fundamental changes in Finland's foreign and security policy environment following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The report does not include any conclusions or present new security policy guidelines.
