14.7.2023 | Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz met in Berlin on Friday 14 July. Their meeting focused on European security and on developing trade and economic relations between Finland and Germany.

5.1.2026 | On 7-8 January 2026, Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit the German state of Bavaria, where she will attend a meeting of the parliamentary group of the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) in Seeon Abbey. She will also meet representatives of Finnish and German companies in Munich.

10.7.2019 | The main topics in the discussions between Prime Minister Antti Rinne and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel today were the programme and priorities of Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. A particular focus was on the role of the new European Commission and on the rule of law. Both Rinne and Merkel considerer it important to further strengthen the common European values and adherence to them.

19.11.2025 | Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne participated in the Summit on European Digital Sovereignty in Berlin on 18 November 2025. Finland also signed the Declaration for European Digital Sovereignty initiated by Austria and published in connection with the summit.

25.11.2025 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo represented Finland at the seventh EU-African Union (AU) Summit in Luanda, Angola on 24 and 25 November. The summit was attended by heads of state or government from both continents and by President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen from the European side.

23.6.2025 | Finland will start as co-chair of the Media Freedom Coalition (MFC), which advocates for media freedom and the safety of journalists. Finland will hold the two-year co-chairmanship together with Germany and succeed Estonia when it concludes its term as co-chair on 30 June.

7.2.2025 | Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will attend the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. President Macron has also invited EU leaders to a Summit of Heads of State and Government, and leaders from nearly 20 EU Member States are expected to attend alongside Finland.

26.10.2023 | On 26 October 2023, the Government appointed Timo Jaatinen, Master of Social Sciences, as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment for the period of 6 November 2023–5 November 2028.

21.2.2023 | In their statement published on 20 February, the ministers of sport from 34 countries state that the International Olympic Committee should not change its decision of 28 February 2022 concerning the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international sports. According to the ministers, the situation in Ukraine has deteriorated over the past year.

7.9.2023 | The Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen was held in Kyiv on 6 September 2023 on the invitation of Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine. The summit also brought together health ministers from EU Member States and WHO European Region who signed a statement at the event.
