15.9.2025 | Minister of the Environment and Climate Sari Multala will take part in the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna on 15–16 September 2025. On Monday, she will deliver Finland’s national statement to the plenary.

26.4.2026 | On 26 April 2026, Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala visited Ukraine to attend memorials commemorating the Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident 40 years ago and to participate in a high-level meeting on improving the plant safety. She also took part in a G7+ meeting in Kyiv to discuss support for Ukraine for the winter of 2026–2027 amid Russia’s continuing attacks on energy and civilian targets.

24.3.2026 | Finland has joined the US-led Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) programme as a contributing partner. Led by the State Department’s Bureau of Arms Control and Nonproliferation (ACN), FIRST harnesses the power of the nuclear industry to expedite responsible nuclear reactor deployment worldwide.

26.9.2023 | Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen will attend the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on 27 September 2023. The Conference will be held in Vienna this week. Mykkänen will deliver Finland’s national statement at the Conference on Wednesday.

23.9.2021 | At its 65th General Conference, the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA elected Finland to the IAEA Board of Governors for a two-year term from September 2021 to September 2023 with a possible extension for a third year.

23.6.2025 | In their meeting on Monday 23 June, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the current situation in the Middle East.

27.9.2022 | The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will hold its General Conference in Vienna this week. Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä will attend the conference as Finland’s representative.

7.2.2024 | Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Vienna on 8–9 February 2024. She will meet Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg and leaders of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). Minister Valtonen will also give a speech at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.

20.3.2024 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will attend the European Council on 21–22 March and the Euro Summit to be held in connection with the Council meeting. On 21 March, the Prime Minister will also attend the first-ever Nuclear Energy Summit.

31.10.2022 | Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will visit Vienna, Austria, on 1 November. Haavisto will attend a symposium of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and meet the Austrian Foreign Minister.

The virtual event will bring together hundreds of experts from around the world. FinNuclear ry, in cooperation with its Finnish partners and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), organises the event.

14.3.2022 | Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari will visit Vienna and Bratislava on 14–16 March.
