23.3.2026 | Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Sari Essayah will visit Morocco from 24 to 27 March 2026. The purpose of the trip is to strengthen bilateral relations and promote trade with Morocco, especially in forest and water expertise. Minister Essayah will be accompanied by a business delegation focusing on these matters.

27.2.2026 | Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will meet the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, in Rabat on 1 March.

25.5.2026 | Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour will visit Finland on 25–26 May at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio.

27.4.2025 | Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Morocco with a business delegation on 28–30 April 2025.

12.6.2025 | On 16 April, the European Commission submitted a proposal to establish a list of safe countries of origin for asylum seekers. The aim is to facilitate a swift examination of asylum applications that are likely to be unfounded: if the applicant comes from a safe country of origin, the examination of their application would be accelerated. The Government informed Parliament of the proposal by submitting a Union communication on 12 June.

9.2.2022 | Finland and Morocco have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on energy. The aim of the document is to develop technical and economic cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and promote the access of Finnish companies to the Moroccan market.

14.9.2023 | Libya has requested assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism following the destruction caused by Storm Daniel on 12 September. Libya has requested a wide range of assistance, including shelters, medical supplies and expert assistance.

14.10.2023 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra attended the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Marrakech, Morocco this week. The meetings focused on the main issues facing the international economy and the current global situation. The most difficult issue raised at the meetings was condemning Russia for its war of aggression against Ukraine.

23.5.2023 | Permanent Secretary Minna Kivimäki will visit London to promote campaigns which seek a place for Finland at the heart of the International Maritime Organization, IMO. 

12.4.2024 | At the presidential session on 12 April, the President of the Republic appointed eight new Ambassadors and three new non-resident Ambassadors.

12.12.2022 | Finland will participate in the replenishment cycle of the African Development Fund and in the reinforcing of the Fund’s work in the coming years, especially with regard to climate change adaptation. The African Development Fund helps the poorest African countries in coping with the many coinciding crises and in recovering from them.

10.5.2022 | Foreign Minister Haavisto's State Secretary Johanna Sumuvuori will attend the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, held in Marrakesh, Morocco, on 11 May.

7.12.2022 | EU home affairs ministers will gather in Brussels on Thursday 8 December for a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen will represent Finland at the meeting. The ministers will discuss topics including the overall state of the Schengen area and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

1.9.2022 | Desertification is a wretched process that is caused by fertile soil becoming dry and impoverished and that eventually ruins the soil’s productivity completely. Soil that is unfit for cultivation is a major trigger for migration flows in Africa and the Middle East.

20.4.2022 | The member countries of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action discussed climate and economic policy at the ministerial meeting held on 19 April. Finland and Indonesia co-chair the Coalition.

7.10.2021 | EU home affairs ministers will gather in Luxembourg on 8 October for a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. Items on the agenda include the external dimension of migration, the situation in Afghanistan and the fight against child sexual abuse. Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo will represent Finland at the meeting.

3.5.2021 | Finland has been accepted as one of the Global Champions countries promoting the preparation of the High-level Dialogue on Energy to be held in New York in September 2021 in connection to the UN General Assembly.

21.6.2021 | In connection with its General Assembly, the UN will organise a High-level Dialogue on Energy in New York in September. This is the first time since 1981 that the UN addresses energy issue at this level. The aim of the meeting is to strengthen Member States’ efforts to achieve the Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on energy in preparation for the COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow in November.
