10.6.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a monitoring report on the impacts of the legislative amendments that were needed to implement the Directive establishing the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), or Telecoms Directive. The report also includes data on the achievement of the related regulatory objectives. The EECC regulates electronic communications (telecoms) networks and services.

11.2.2021 | The Government has issued a decree amending the Decree on Audiovisual Services. The list of events of major importance for society that have to be broadcast on television will be updated to include those women's sports events that are equivalent to the men's events already on the list.

The subtitling requirement for live broadcasts will become fully applicable on 1 January 2022.

23.11.2023 | On Thursday 23 November, the Government submitted its proposal to Parliament to amend the budget proposal for 2024. Among others, the proposal includes amendments related to support for Ukraine, the health and social services transfer calculation and central government transfers to local government. In line with the proposal, the revenue estimate will be increased by EUR 76 million, while the need for appropriations will decrease by EUR 48 million.

Events designated by decree as being of major importance for society refer to events that have to be broadcast by television in the area of Finland so that they are available to a substantial proportion of the public free of charge either as live or recorded broadcasts.
