13.6.2024 | Avian influenza vaccines will be offered to people who may be exposed to avian influenza. Vaccinations are scheduled to start as soon as possible.

25.7.2023 | In Finland, exceptionally large numbers of deaths have been recorded this summer among wild birds as a result of the A(H5) virus infection. Avian influenza viruses are poorly transmitted from animals to humans or from person to person.

18.7.2023 | The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland has added highly pathogenic avian influenza diagnosed in fur animals to the category of other animal disease to be combated. This designation will be implemented through an amendment to a decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

21.3.2024 | On Thursday 21 March, the Government submitted a supplementary budget proposal for 2024 to Parliament. The proposal includes appropriations for speeding up the construction of the fence on the eastern border, introducing targeted measures to alleviate the situation in the construction sector and providing additional support to Ukraine. In addition, it proposes reducing revenue estimates by EUR 1.3 billion based on the forecast published by the Ministry of Finance in December 2023.

21.11.2024 | On Thursday 21 November, the Government submitted its proposal to Parliament to amend the budget proposal for 2025. Some items in the proposal concern the Government's EUR 4 billion investment programme. The proposal will increase the revenue estimate by EUR 67 million and the requirement for appropriations by EUR 405 million.

9.10.2023 | The Finnish Government proposes about EUR 16.2 billion in appropriations for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and its administrative branch for 2024. This is slightly over EUR 134 million more than in the 2023 Budget. The increase is due to needs assessment changes in pensions, for example, and to the implementation of reforms set out in the Government Programme.

4.3.2021 | On 4 March 2021 more than 100 people participated in a webinar to boost Finland’s preparations for the UN Food Systems Summit FSS in September 2021. The webinar was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Ministry for Foreign Affairs. In his address to the webinar David Nabarro, the leader of the global FSS Dialogues process, noted that Finland has taken an active lead in reforming the world’s food system to make it more sustainable and equitable.
