We will develop the operating conditions of CSOs in cross-administrative cooperation. The implementation of the strategy includes legislative projects, studies and reports and other development measures. The aim is, for example, to extend the right to tax deductions on donations to CSOs, to reform government grant practices and to form a vision of civil society.

22.12.2025 | The Ministry of the Interior has circulated for comment the draft government proposal on the national legislative amendments that relate to the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. The deadline for comments is 2 February 2026.

2.3.2026 | The Ministry of the Environment will begin a law drafting process to expand the Eastern Gulf of Finland National Park to marine areas around the islands and rocky islets. The surface area of the marine areas concerned would be more than 60,000 hectares.

3.12.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has published the Non-Violent Childhoods Action Plan for 2026–2033 aimed at preventing all forms of violence against children. The plan, which will be implemented at the government level, is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Lanzarote Convention and national statutes that require all forms of violence against children to be combated.

The programme has developed a high-quality network of protected areas that already covers almost 100,000 hectares. 11.12.2024 | Finland will receive EUR 50 million in additional funding from the European Commission to strengthen surveillance at the eastern border through the EU Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy (BMVI). Finland’s 1,340-kilometre-long border with Russia is also an external border of the EU. More effective surveillance of the border will strengthen the security of the EU as a whole in the changing landscape of hybrid threats and instrumentalised migration.
